Learn how to start a Christ-centred recovery group in your area. These workshops are targeted specifically for prospective group leaders, pastors, or anyone affected by an addiction or compulsion (alcohol, drugs, pornography, fear, anger, guilt…).

Report from Winter Roundup 2012

On Saturday February 25, approximately 55 people gathered at Wayside Gospel Chapel, Grand Marais for the Overcomers Outreach Winter Roundup. People gathered to this event from all over Southern Manitoba.

This was a time for music, food and fellowship. Most importantly, we heard great testimonies about what God is doing in people’s lives as they recover from various addictions and compulsions.

Significantly, three active church leaders shared their current recovery stories. Clearly the disease of addiction can affect every Christian, regardless of nature of their service to the Kingdom. Praise God for healing!

Thank you to Wayside for hosting the event. Thank you to the country gospel band that contributed their time to lead us in worship.

In Confidence to Pastors Regarding Pornography Addiction

Assisting the porn addict

Any pastor, in the role of counselor, may be approached by someone who is suffers from a pornography addiction. To quote xxxchurch.com: “If you sent a bottle of vodka to every home in America every week for a year, you would no doubt have a whole wave of alcoholics. The Internet has created a wave of pornography addicts with its pervasive porn delivery mechanism”.

One option is to become an accountability partner to the addicted person. That is an effective option, but one that involves a significant time commitment on your part. Alternately you can assist this person to become part of an Overcomers Outreach group. Please see our directory for a group near you.

Dealing with your own addiction

As a pastor, you yourself may have become addicted. Who do you turn to for help?

Overcomers Outreach offers confidentiality and freedom. Any Overcomers groups across Canada can help. Please see our directory for a group near you.

Specialized group for Men’s Purity

If you live in the Winnipeg area we now run a specialized Men’s Purity Group on the 2^nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 10:00 A.M. We welcome men who are addressing all types of addictions: sex (including pornography), drugs, alcohol, gambling and food. This group meets at The Edge, 201 Manitoba Ave in Selkirk, Manitoba.
